Memory of Nina was installed at Rooms to Let, 2014 in an abandoned home slated for demolishing in the Historic Cleveland Slavic Village neighborhood. I created the images by printing out over 500 film frames of Nina Simone singing Baltimore in 1969 and hand-painted and re-photographed each frame to create a kind of ghostlike movement. In the installation, you see the painted frames strewn about on the floor and the video projection coming from a closet. The piece brought together the idea of loss, an abandoned neighborhood and a song.
